Betty Boop

Thanks for Booping by...

betty boop

This site is the story of one woman's obsession with Betty Boop. It all started when I watched a few black and white cartoons, at a young, impressionable age. Before I knew it, I was hooked. When I was about 11, my Dad bought me a ceramic Betty Boop hula doll (she really wiggles!). She was my very first Betty Boop. Since then, my collection has expanded. My friends bring me Betty Boops from Mexico, where they're sold cheap. I even found Betty in France at a department store. I spent a load of money to collect every Betty Postcard made by Classico (see gallery), and now they've come out with more! I have no will power when it comes to Betty, and I fear (hope) I'll be an addict for life. But when your kids are growing up, please show them Betty with care. She's awfully addicting.

The new news (updated 12/26/07):
I'm sad to say that I haven't had the time to keep up with my websites and emails of late. Therefore I will make it official. I will be on haitus (not available for questions or comments) for an unknown period of time. I will leave the site as it is, with all of the helpful information available. When I eventually return, I will probably have a new email, due to the insane amount of spam I've been getting. Please Note: I will not be answering emails. If you need to get in touch with me, please use the guestbook. I check it about once a month, because I need to approve the entries for them to show. Thanks to all of you who've sent me notes through the years. It's been a fun ride.

A note on Boopabilia: I am NOT an antiques appraiser, merely a humble collector. If you write to me to find out how much something is worth, the best I can do is give you a ballpark figure that might turn out to be way off (Example: How much is this antique ceramic Betty Boop egg holder worth? Me: I dunno. Five bucks?) If you want an informed opinion, I suggest that you try out ebay's Opinions, Authentication and Grading page, or even better, go to The Official Betty Boop Website, click on Betty Boop Forum, and look for "Betty Boop Memorabilia" under "Collector's Corner". There you'll find a place you can ask questions of Leonard Ellis, the author of this book:

Betty For Dogs! There's now an online store with Betty style gifts for your favorite pampered dog! Check out Canine Couture for some adorable and stylish accessories for man's (and woman's) best friend.

Just a reminder: I don't sell anything. I've gotten a couple of emails regarding the Betty Boop rubber stamps in my collection, and as far as I know, Rubber Stampede isn't making them any more. Your best bet is to keep an eye on ebay, or check out this stamp I found on the internet: True Legends Biker stamp. I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in selling any of my personal collection. I do, however, have a lot of retailer links on my links page, and a spiffy Amazon.com page through which you can find some nifty Boop stuff.

You guys come up with the coolest stuff. Check out this online Betty Boop dress up doll!

Cool Betty Gear: Betty Boop Adidas are out! You can find them on ebay. Just do a search for Betty Boop Adidas. They're so cute!

Where do I find all this stuff? Well, initially I had to go out hunting on the internet to find it myself. But I've gotten enough visitors that people have started contacting me through email to share their wonderful new Betty sites. If you have a site that you'd like me to feature, or add to my links page, and I'll add you as soon as possible. Fair warning: Sometimes sites aren't added for a while, depending on how busy I am. But if I see something especially cool, I'll usually put a note on this page to let other fans know about it! I work on updating links whenever I can get to it. If you'd like your fansite or Betty Boop store listed, send me an email. If you don't want to wait for me to update, sign my guestbook and include your link. Better yet, send me an email and sign my guestbook!

The Tat gallery is finally here!

Techie stuff:
Website help: Are you working on your own website but don't know HTML? A lot of people have been asking me for codes and help, but it's not something I can easily explain in an email. I taught myself how to do web pages with The Complete Idiot's Guide to HTML and took college classes to learn design. However, there are many wonderful online tutorials that can help you for free. I found an especially good one at: Lissa Explains it All. Please don't just copy html from my website! Betty Boop does not belong to me, but any site design and writing does. Copying original work without citing references is plagiarism, and it is unethical and illegal. Practice good netiquette (internet etiquette) and don't copy! Example: My history page    Copied page.

Email sigs: I've gotten a lot of letters asking how to make email sigs, so I've linked to tutorials...but the tutorials keep disappearing! Here's a new link to a website that has a step by step process. Check out Annie's Step by Step Instructions to Add a Sig Tag to your Email. While you're welcome to use the images on my site for sigs (the small ones on my Web Page Pictures page are great for sigs!), please do not link to the pictures on my site directly. You must load them on your own computer or server. While Betty does not belong to me, this web account does, and my bandwidth is limited.
